Hypocrites

I am going to rant here for a minute so if you'd rather not listen then I suggest you hit the back button.

Why are people such hypocrites?
I honestly can't answer that question, but what I can do is explain to you something that happened to me...
While I was bored and searching online randomly looking at pictures of tattoos I found one that intrigued me because I thought it was funny. My first instinct was to view the full size picture and copy the link so that I could send it to a friend who I thought would get a kick out of it. When I clicked on the link I saw that the picture was part of a blog so I, being very bored, read it. I then proceeded to read the comments underneath and it started annoying me. Now that you know my feelings I will explain a bit more.

The tattoo is called a picture of a cartoon character being crucified and surrounding it are the words "Hello Kitty is my Jesus."

I think it's funny. But some people have decided that not only is it blasphemous, but that it's worshiping a false idol among other things. I am not proud to say that I read over half of the comments that were on there. There were over 150... But at the same time it only helps me realize how hypocritical people can be, as well as how, to put it bluntly, stupid and ignorant people can be. I am not saying this meaning that only my opinion is right because I'm sure that a lot of people would have no problem telling me that I am wrong. But let me give you an example of the stupid, ignorant, and hypocritical comments that were stated.

"Holyy Crapp
Thats Like, The Worst Tatoo.. Ever
Hope The Owner Enjoys Hell."

Awesome. So according to this person the tattoo owner is going to hell. But wait, there is more to come.

"There is so much wrong with that tattoo on so many levels. It’s going to offend so many religious people it’s not funny. It’s blasphemous, the person that had this done is violating one of the Ten Commandments “Thou shalt have no other gods before me”, there is something somewhere about worshiping false idols, etc. I don’t need to go on do I?"

Again we have someone telling people how to think, only this time the person chose to, as I say, "preach at us." Which doesn't work. When people preach at me I tend to get annoyed. Who are you to tell me that I am living my life the wrong way? I have no problem with people asking me questions about my religious beliefs, but when narrow-minded, ill-informed people start up a full blown attack on my beliefs it doesn't make me want to agree with them, it makes me want to hit something. The entire list of comments on here goes back and forth between people arguing and "stating the truth of God" and even going to the lengths of personal attacks. Then we have a comment like this.

"[Omitted name] thank you for putting all christians in the same group. that would be like me saying all lesbians are nasty butchies. simply not true. i am a christian. i have gay and lesby friends that i love dearly. as for helping the less fortunate, my church just finished a month long campaign to send money, supplies, and people to an aids center in south africa. we spent the weekend before christmas feeding hawaii’s homeless and working in the shelters. not all christian’s practice what they preach. but saying all christians are assholes does a great disservice to everyone!"

Fundamentally I agree that putting everyone in the same group is wrong. However, if you are going to say that then please don't try and tell me how much better you are than me. I don't know you, which means I really don't give a shit what you or your church has done. It would have been better to explain yourself without the aid of 1) a horrible example that was, shall we say, less than politically correct and 2) without the steaming pile of "I'm better than you because my church does charity work" idea horseshit. It just isn't the best way to go about things. And by the way, just because your church does something, doesn't mean that you've done it. Nice way to lump yourself in with a group, which is exactly what you were preaching against.
Now that I have shown you the hypocritical side and a bit of the stupid side allow me to introduce you to: The Ignorant Side.
"As for you Salem witch hunting, nazi holocost loving christians who are just dying to come on here and reply and rip the absolute crap out of me….sit back for a minute and reassess what it means to be a christian wont you, because at this stage, you are all failing miserably!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

This person was trying to defend the thought that this tattoo was okay. I'm glad that they carefully chose their words. They weren't offensive at all. And really? 55 exclamation points? That's just sad (almost as sad as me counting them all).

"To [Omitted Names] and every other deluded Hello Kitty fan:
You’re wrong and batshit crazy. Shut up.
And isn’t Hello Kitty supposed to be a GIRL? Is it logical that she should have a full growth of beard and go topless? And why am I asking you all about logic?"

Really? What is "batshit crazy"? Is there some kind of medical chart that tells you the different levels of crazy? Because I would like to see that. And I would like to point out the awesome usage of "logic" here. Because it's clearly logical that a cat could have a beard, and the topless comment? It's a fucking cat. But good news, you don;t need me to point out the flaw in their logic; someone does it for me.

"Instead of asking us about logic…ask us about how it feels to be a nice person……you need the help!"

I'm so glad that I have you to tell me how to be a nice person! I honestly just don't know that I would be able to figure it out without you. I'm sure you will be rewarded in heaven for your kindness. (That was me being a bitch)

Okay, I've talked long enough. For those of you who want to see this page I have the link at the bottom. For those of you who think I am going to hell for thinking that this was a funny tattoo you can write a comment if you want. I probably won't write back but you can try to save my soul from eternal damnation if you want. I think somehow I'll muddle through.
